Meet Kunjal Yadav, an 11th-grade student from Bhavan Vidyalaya Panchkula, who took on the challenge of breaking societal taboos with her impactful initiative, “Taboo Traverse.” Through this project, she raised awareness about two critical yet often overlooked topics—menstruation and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO). With the support of Team Project Qaabil, Kunjal is making a lasting difference by creating a safe and inclusive space for these important conversations.

Need of the Project
Kunjal recognized the widespread stigma and misinformation surrounding menstruation and the lack of male involvement in discussions about POCSO. She saw that both topics were treated as uncomfortable and avoided in school environments, leaving students uninformed and unprepared to address these critical issues.
How it was Executed
In collaboration with Project Qadira, Kunjal implemented a series of gender-neutral, awareness sessions that encouraged active participation from both boys and girls. She provided a safe space where students could openly discuss these sensitive topics. Kunjal also held individual consultations for those who preferred to share their experiences privately, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to be heard.
What was the Impact Area?
Kunjal’s initiative not only broke social taboos but also fostered empathy and understanding among students. By including boys in the conversations about menstruation and encouraging them to report abuse, she is building a more compassionate and supportive school environment. Nearly every student engaged with the discussions, and Kunjal is laying the foundation for a future where difficult topics are addressed openly, and all voices are valued.
